It's been way too long since I last posted to Dreamwidth. There's a new Starsky and Hutch blog here now that I'm hoping to join and hoping it'll spur me to post more often. I've missed Dreamwidth!

Apologies for cross posting, but this information is critical. If you have any interest in attending SHareCon 2018. Please read to the end so you can participate in a poll.

We've been hosting SHareCon every other year since 2000, so we're used to negotiating with hotels. This will be our 10^th con. We always try to get the best deal we can. We consider our best logistics, transportation, and food costs. This year, the choices haven't been clear cut, so we need your input. After talking to 25 different hotels, we are considering two (in alphabetical order):

1. The DoubleTree Hotel for the cheaper room rate, the choice of rooms with two beds, a more private meeting space, the ability to enjoy con activities later at night, the onsite restaurant, and the option to bring my pet. I understand the hotel shuttle does not go to the airport, that breakfast is not free, that other food options may be limited or more expensive, and that I might not have a refrigerator in my room.
2. The Homewood Suites for the free breakfast, airport shuttle, spacious suites, and cheaper food options. I understand I will pay more for rooms, that I might not be able to get a room with two beds, that no pets are allowed, and that the official con space will have to shut down at 11:30pm.

The poll also has a place where you can leave an optional comment if you'd like.

REMINDER: SHareCon rates go up June 2!

If you are interested in attending SHareCon this year (October 14-17 in Laurel, MD), registration rates go up on June 2, so save yourself some coin and register now at the website.

If you are planning on coming to the con, but don't want to register now, please drop me a note and let me know your plans so I can "reserve" you a spot. Membership is limited so we don't overcrowd our meeting space. Have questions about the con that aren't answered somewhere on our website? Drop me a note!

Call for submissions: SHareCon 2016 zine

You, too, can be immortalized in print!

This is how crazy we are. In an era of online-everything-instantaneously, we plan to once again produce a hard copy of the one and only official SHareCon zine. But we need contributions or we have no zine. As we did in 2014, we are accepting submissions from anyone in Starsky & Hutch fandom. Also, as we did in 2014, we will produce an ezine as well. So, we're not that crazy. (We're sane, really we are. Don't call the nice people at Cabrillo State. We don't get along well with the other patients.)

Speaking of calendars-- SHareCon 2016

I'd like to lock down the dates for SHareCon with the hotel. It may seem a little early, but October is a popular month for weddings, so I don't want to lose the advantage. (Kudos to Cyanne who's been nudging me gently about nailing this down for oh, say, two months now. Talk about patience...!) We're leaning towards the weekend of October 14-17 (Friday - Monday), very close to 2014's dates. Right in the middle of the month. It's past a lot of holiday dates, but just barely past some. Here's the breakdown for those of you who aren't planning that far ahead:

SHareCon Memberships go up June 2

Just a reminder that SHarecon memberships will be going up in price on June 2. Memberships, both attending and supporting, are at their lowest cost right now. As of June 2, prices will be going up, and will continue to rise as we get closer to the con.

I am behind on acknowledging memberships due to my trip to Michigan for Media West Con. I hope to have everyone who's currently registered logged in and acknowledged no later than the end of this week. If you're concerned about your membership status, you can always drop me a note and I'll do my best to respond asap.

SHareCon needs you if we hope to continue. We've got a new, great hotel, cheap rates, and we always have lots of fun. Come join us for a weekend solely dedicated to the best, most romantic show that ever hit the airwaves.

Help us plan SHareCon 2014

Believe it or not, it's time to plan for SHareCon 2014. I've just left a long post about the kind of information we need to plan the con. We can't do this without you. We need to know how many hope to attend (no blood oaths or money, just your best guess) and what kind of food you'd like. Easy stuff!
